How Spades scoring works here
- Make your bid: 10 points per trick bid, plus 1 point for each extra trick (a bag).
- Miss your bid: minus 10 points per trick bid.
- Every 10 bags: minus 100, and the bag count goes down by 10.
- Nil made: +100. Nil failed: −100, and the nil player's tricks count as bags.
- The game ends when a team reaches the target (500 by default) or drops to −200.
Players 1 and 3 are one team, players 2 and 4 the other.
Questions
How do bags work in Spades?
Each trick a team wins above its bid is a bag, worth 1 point. When a team collects 10 bags it loses 100 points and the count starts again from what is left over.
How is a nil bid scored?
If the nil player takes no tricks, their team gets 100 points; if they take any, the team loses 100. The partner's bid is scored on its own.
What score do you play Spades to?
Usually 500. Many groups also end the game when a team falls to −200. You can change the target under the score pad.
